Focus Stacking – Townsend TN

October 13, 2018

9 am – 5 pm

limited to 10 participants

Digital photography has changed the way we can capture and process images. One of the most exciding new techniques is focus stacking.  It allows us to expand the depth of field of our lenses and make sharper images than we ever could before.  It is changing the workflow of macro, landscape and commercial photography.

Join us as we spend a day exploring several ways to capture optimized images appropriate for focus stacking. Once we have the images we will look at options to combine them into a single image sharper then we could ever capture at f/22.  Surprisingly, it can also be used to limit the depth of field to create more abstract image or to control messy backgrounds.

We will meet in Townsend from 9 am till 5 pm with a break for lunch. You will have the opportunity to capture several series of images at different focus points and process them with Photoshop or Helicon Focus.  If you don’t have software, you can watch the demos and see what you would like to get. When you sign up we will give you information about free trials you could download to try for the day.  You will leave with an introduction to techniques that can take your images to the next level. Join Tyson Smith and Jerry Whaley for a day of digital play.

Class is limited to 10 participants, so book your spot soon!
