Exposure Blending – Townsend TN

September 8, 2018

9 am – 5 pm

limited to 10 participants

Most people think of HDR when they think of blending images to create a high dynamic range capture, but there are other ways to do it.  Join us as we spend a day exploring how to capture optimized images appropriate for exposure blending with automatic or manual bracketing.  After we have the images, we will look at different ways to blend them. Options include using HDR processing with software such a Photoshop, Lightroom or Photomatix.  We will also use luminosity masking to blend the exposures in Photoshop.

HDR was once a technique to create highly toned mapped images that people either loved or hated. Now the techniques, especially luminosity masking, are part of good landscape and nature workflow. They don’t just blend exposures, but let the photographer replace skies easier, control the light through dodging and burning and even work on a single capture to enhance its beauty.

We will meet in Townsend from 9 am till 5 pm with a short break for lunch. You will have the opportunity to capture a series of bracketed images and process them with whatever software you have. If you don’t have software, you can watch the demos and see what you would like to get. When you sign up we will give you information about free trials you could download to try for the day.  You will leave with an introduction to techniques that can take your images to the next level.  Join us for a day of digital play.

You are encouraged to bring a camera, lens and laptop with software, but not required.

Class is limited to 10 participants, so book your spot soon!
